About

We did not set out to become a loudspeaker manufacturer.

We became one because of a pattern we kept running into.

The pattern

Over eighteen years of designing and calibrating cinema rooms, the same thing happened often enough to stop being a coincidence. A room would be built properly, treated properly and fitted with well-reviewed loudspeakers — and then fail to reach reference level with its headroom intact once those speakers were sitting behind a screen, doing the job a cinema actually asks of them.

Not because they were bad speakers. Because they had been designed for a different purpose, and chosen on reputation rather than against a target.

So we built the range we kept wishing we could specify. Every Matterhorn model starts from the performance a finished room has to demonstrate under CEDIA RP-22 and works backwards to the drive units and cabinet needed to get there with margin in hand.

Where the range comes from

The room and the loudspeaker, designed by the same people.

Designing the loudspeaker and designing the room are the same job here — the targets a Matterhorn model is built to are the targets we have spent nearly two decades measuring rooms against.

That is an unusual position for a manufacturer, and it is the reason the range exists at the scale it does. We were not guessing at what rooms demand. We had the measurements.

Audio Dynamics designs and builds the range in Bangalore, India.

How the range is engineered

Trade

Stocking Matterhorn.

Matterhorn is available to integrators and distributors who design cinema rooms to a measurable standard. If that describes your work, we would like to hear from you.

Trade and distribution

Listen

Hear them in a finished room.

Matterhorn is best judged the way it is used — at reference level, behind a screen, in a room designed and calibrated around it.
